PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Run AC, Fridge, Fan Without Worry – Get Zero Bill with This Government Scheme

1 Crore Families Will Benefit, No More High Electricity Bills!

PM Surya Ghar Yojana: The government launched the Pradhanmantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in February 2024. Under this scheme, more than 10 lakh rooftop solar panels have already been installed. The government aims to install solar panels in 1 crore homes by 2027.

If you use ACs, fridges, fans, coolers, and lights a lot during summer and get stressed seeing the high electricity bill, then this scheme can be your solution. Launched by PM Narendra Modi, this solar plan has become very popular due to its benefits. Both central and state governments are working to make sure more and more people get the benefits of this scheme.

Over 10 Lakh Solar Installations in One Year

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana was launched on 15 February 2024. Since its launch, it has received a very good response. According to official data, by 10 March 2025, over 10.09 lakh rooftop solar panels were installed. As per the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), this scheme has already saved India around ₹1600 crore in electricity bills annually. The goal is to save ₹5 lakh crore by 2027 with 1 crore installations.

Say Goodbye to Expensive Electricity Bills

If you are worried about high monthly bills, installing a solar panel can save you money for the next 20–25 years. Generally, rooftop solar panels last for about 25 years. But before installing, you should calculate how much electricity you use daily.

For example, in a normal home, if you use 2–3 fans, a fridge, 6–8 LED lights, an AC and a TV, you may need 8–10 units of electricity daily. In this case, a 2 kW solar panel is suitable for your needs. Based on official data, households are saving up to ₹12,000 per year using this solar system. So, this scheme is really helping reduce electricity bills.

Government Provides Big Subsidy

Under PM Surya Ghar Yojana, you not only get 300 units of free electricity but also receive a good subsidy from the government for installing solar panels. Here’s the breakdown:

Monthly Electricity Use Solar Panel Capacity Subsidy Provided
0–150 units 1–2 kW ₹30,000 to ₹60,000
150–300 units 2–3 kW ₹60,000 to ₹78,000
More than 300 units More than 3 kW ₹78,000 fixed

Details:

  • Up to 2 kW: ₹30,000 per kW
